The light green leaves on this emergent aquatic plant appear mossy, threadlike and soft to the touch. The stems can grow many feet long causing it to develop dense mats on the water’s surface. In severe cases the mats prevent sunlight from submerged plants causing plant elimination. The leaves are approximately 1/4 inch long with a thick cluster spiraling the stem. Bog Moss blooms spring to fall developing small 1/2 inch wide whitish to pink flowers on short independent stalks only 1 to 2 inches long.
