Cabomba caroliniana leaves

Non-Native – Invasive – Eradicate

This invasive, rapidly spreading plant is a non-native submerged aquatic species introduced from South America. The unrelenting plant has been banned and should be eradicated. Its dense mats and competitive nature tend to crowd out inhabitant plant species. It’s been known to cause considerable damage to waterways. The perennial plant is predominately submerged with the exception of a few scarce floating leaves elongated in shape and alternately positioned. Cabomba’s submerged multi-branches and leaves are typically green, however, there is a purple subspecies (Purple Fanwort). Above the petiole is a signature fan-shaped leaf. When identifying also look for pink or yellow flowers about 10mm wide and with three petals.
