Pennywort is a low-growing, creeping perennial typically less than 10 inches high. Round leaves are no bigger than 2 1/2 inches in diameter and have easily identifiable blunted teeth around the edges. Petioles attach to the center of each green leaf having a slightly yellow center. Tiny, greenish-white flowers are typically taller than the leaves and produced on independent stalks. Pennywort develops floating colonies and can produce dense mats.
