Burhead Sedge is an invasive aquatic plant that forms a dense coverage potentially out-competing beneficial species and reducing navigable water. Appearing grass-like, the emergent sedge has slender erect stems growing 3 feet tall and developing thick colonies. The aquatic plant has inflorescence stems, and red rhizomes. As with all aquatic species the submerged portions have an environmental impact as they provide a habitat for many invertebrates. Burhead Sedge is also a food source for ducks and other waterfowl.
